Second Grade - Mrs. Packham

Classroom News

UPDATE for May 21, 2018

We are winding it all up.  This week we will be finishing up a few projects.  We will take a math test or two and complete our sandwich report on Winn Dixie.  Next week we will get to see the movie.  Be sure to have your child tell you the story.  We have had a great time reading it in class over the last three weeks.

There will be NO HOMEWORK for the rest of the year.  Reading Logs will continue to be sent home and stickers will be given for reading so awards can continue to be earned.  READING is so important.  Please make time for reading this summer!!!!!!

The big event of the week is "The Play" on Thursday.  Up until then we will be constructing scenery and costuming as well as practicing our parts.  We will do a run through on Wednesday for The Kindergarten and then THE ACTUAL PERFORMANCE on Thursday.  Hopefully we will see you all there.  We will be making a special treat during the day for after the play.  Your child may ask for special help from you for a costume.  Your help will be appreciated!!!!

Friday is the AR reading reward party - a movie in the movie theather.  Chances are that we have seen in before, but being in the theather with treats and friends will make it a fun event.  Be sure your permission slip has been returned.  Or if you haven't earned it yet, do some reading and take some AR tests.  Also we will perform the play for the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, grades that morning.

Next week we will do our class AR reward - milkshakes in the park for those who have 50 points.  We only have about half the class so far.  Also we will watch Winn Dixie, do moving on up (visit the third grade), and have the awards assembly.  Report cards go home next week.

Graduation is the last day of school with the annual barbeque.  It has been a good year!  Thanks for the all the hard work.  May God Bless You!

Favorite Bible Verse:  Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you:  not as the world giveth, give I unto you.  Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid."  John 14:29

My faith in God is and has always been the foundation in my life.  I believe God wants us to grow and to learn.  What an opportunity to be able to teach at a wonderful school like St. Nicholas where I can help children know how important they are to God as part of their education.
