Third Grade - Mrs. Eberhardt

Classroom News

Week of January 21 - 25 - Monday, January 21, 2019

We have a shortened week this week.  School is dismissed at 1 PM on Thursday and there is no school on Friday. Progress reports will go home on Tuesday.  There are a few of you that I would like to meet with on Thursday or Friday, but as always please contact me if you would like to meet as well.

We are ready to start module 4 in our math curriculum. We will be learning how to find the area of shapes. This unit is shorter and should be finished by the end of 2nd trimester. This unit utilizes the multiplication strategies we have learned to date. Please continue to practice these multiplication facts at home.

We will not begin a new story in our reading curriculum. However, we will be reading articles and stories from our Storyworks Jr magazine. Our focus this week will continue with the skills of cause and effect, inference, author's purpose, and descriptive details. Students will also be reading a little bit of poetry.

We will still have spelling words this week. The students will come home with their lists as well as a nightly spelling worksheet that is specific to their set of words. Please also help them study.

Favorite Bible Verse: '"I am the Alpha and the Omega,' says the Lord God, who is, who was, and who is to come, the Almighty." Revelation 1:8

I am privileged to work at St. Nicholas Catholic School. This school shaped me as a child and now I have the opportunity to teach young students that walk through our doors. I have a passion for reading and try to help all children find that joy within themselves. St. Nicholas is a family and I am proud to be a part of that!
