Holy Week

Holy Week

Holy Week is an important time for Christians throughout the world. It is celebrated during the week of March 28th, Palm Sunday, thorough April 4th , Easter Sunday.

We do not attend school on Friday and Monday in order to encourage our children to celebrate this week with their families. It is a time that many families choose to attend Mass, Stations of the Cross, and find time to pray together.

How Do We Celebrate Holy Week?

Palm Sunday is celebrated on Sunday and it reminds us of the time Jesus arrived in Jerusalem. Jesus was greeted by a joyous crowd who laid palms on the road as a way to pay homage to Him.  We also receive a palm on Sunday to remind us that we too welcome Jesus into our hearts.

Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper when Jesus ate with his disciples and consecrated bread and wine. During this meal, Jesus established the sacrament of Holy Communion and created the institution of the Priesthood.

Good Friday is one of the most important days in our church. We remember the day Jesus willingly suffered and died by crucifixion for our sins. It is called Good because this important day is the culmination of God’s plan to save his people from their sins.  Jesus’ death will lead to his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Easter Sunday is a day to rejoice!  Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him. On this day, we celebrate the fulfillment of Jesus’ ministry.

We wish all of our families a blessed, holy Easter Week.
